Honors and Minors

Honors and Minor Programs in Mechanical Engineering at MLRITM

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers B. Tech students an opportunity to pursue Honors in Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Minor in Robotics and Automation. These specialized programs are designed in accordance with AICTE guidelines to provide students with in-depth technical expertise, multidisciplinary exposure, and industry-relevant skills in emerging areas of mechanical and allied engineering. The programs aim to enhance employability, research orientation, and higher education prospects in futuristic technologies.

B. Tech with Honors in Mechatronics

  • Builds strong interdisciplinary skills by integrating mechanical design, electronics, control systems, and embedded technology.
  • Enhances understanding of sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, and control mechanisms used in intelligent and automated systems.
  • Provides practical, hands-on experience through mechatronics and control labs, working with real hardware and automation setups.
  • Strengthens ability to design smart systems, analyze system behavior, and develop efficient control solutions for modern engineering applications.
  • Encourages innovation through mini-projects where students create functional mechatronic systems, boosting creativity and problem-solving skills.
📄 B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering Honors in Mechatronics

B. Tech with Minor in Robotics and Automation

  • Develop strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machine elements, robotic hardware, and automation tools—expertise that typically lies outside their primary discipline.
  • Gain understanding of mechanical components, sensors, actuators, and control systems, enabling the design of holistic engineering solutions rather than focusing solely on software or electronics.
  • Learners gain exposure to robotics, automation, mechatronics, and modern manufacturing technologies, preparing them for industries that demand strong interdisciplinary competencies.
  • Through dedicated labs and mini-projects, students work directly with robots, PLCs, controllers, and automation systems, gaining practical mechanical experience that enhances core branch learning.
  • This minor broadens career pathways in robotics, automation, smart manufacturing, IoT, industrial control, automotive systems, aerospace, and product development—fields that highly value engineers with blended mechanical and primary-branch expertise.
