Criteria for Passing a Course

A student shall be considered pass in any theory, laboratory, project, drawing, or design course if:

  • They secure minimum 40% aggregate marks (CIE + SEE combined), and
  • Obtain at least 35% marks in the Semester End Examination (SEE).

Upon passing a course, the student earns the credits allotted to that course.

For Value Added / Audit / Mandatory Courses, performance will be recorded as: Satisfactory (S) or Not Satisfactory (NS).

Computation of SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average)

Formula:

SGPA = ∑(Ci × Gi) / ∑Ci

Where:

  • Ci = Credits of the ith course
  • Gi = Grade point earned in the ith course
  • ∑(Ci×Gi) = Total credit points earned in the semester
  • ∑Ci = Total credits in the semester

Computation of CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average)

Formula:

CGPA = ∑(Sj × Cj) / ∑Cj

Where:

  • Sj = SGPA of the jth semester
  • Cj = Total credits registered in the jth semester

Eligibility for Award of B.Tech. Degree

A student shall be eligible for the award of the B.Tech. degree if they fulfil the following requirements:

  • Successfully earned all prescribed credits specified in the curriculum of the programme.
  • Passed all courses of the programme including theory, laboratory, project, seminar, internship, and mandatory courses.
  • Secured the required CGPA as per academic regulations.
  • Completed the programme requirements within the maximum permissible duration prescribed by the Institute.
  • No disciplinary cases pending against the student at the time of award of the degree.

Upon satisfying the above conditions, the student shall be awarded the B.Tech. degree.

MLRS-R19/R20/R22/R24 Regulations

The following academic requirements shall be fulfilled for the award of the B.Tech. degree:

  • A student must register, maintain the required attendance, and successfully earn:
    • 160 credits for the Regular B.Tech. program, and
    • 123 credits for the Lateral Entry program.
  • A student of the Regular B.Tech. program must earn the prescribed 160 credits with a minimum CGPA of 5.0 within eight consecutive academic years from the year of admission. Failure to do so shall result in forfeiture of the degree and cancellation of admission.
  • A student of the Lateral Entry B.Tech. program must earn 123 credits with a minimum CGPA of 5.0 within six consecutive academic years from the year of admission. Failure to do so shall result in forfeiture of the degree and cancellation of admission.

MLRS-BT25 Regulations

The following academic requirements shall be fulfilled for the award of the B.Tech. degree:

  • A student must register, maintain the required attendance, and successfully earn:
    • 160/164 credits for the Regular B.Tech. program, and
    • 123/124 credits for the Lateral Entry program.
  • A student of the Regular B.Tech. program must earn the prescribed 160/164 credits with a minimum CGPA of 5.0 within eight consecutive academic years from the year of admission. Failure to do so shall result in forfeiture of the degree and cancellation of admission.
  • A student of the Lateral Entry B.Tech. program must earn 123/124 credits with a minimum CGPA of 5.0 within six consecutive academic years from the year of admission. Failure to do so shall result in forfeiture of the degree and cancellation of admission.
